Spring was very late arriving the year that I did this sketch on the Hebridean Island of Tiree, but at last the icy winds had abated, so at last I could pack up my beach shelter, sketch kit and a large sun hat, and plan a day working “a plein air”. My husband dropped me off at the side of the road this time, although on another occasion I could almost as easily book the Island Taxi Service , just so long as I booked a destination the previous day and kitted myself out for ‘rain or shine’. That morning the break in the weather was unexpected, however, so I was a bit late starting, and the offer of a lift to my destination was especially welcome, as I knew exactly where I wanted to work, the light having been wonderful for days!
Now finally I could get started on the huge wealth of wonderful subject matter in the area, and was really pleased with the sketches I was able to turn out that day!
