I painted this picture en plein air, setting up my pop-up tent shelter just inside the field entrance. I had been looking for a good vantage point from which to paint this lovely view of the little settlement of Beal on top of the hill, and was now intrigued by the patterns created by the early morning light on glistening newly – turned furrows. It was just as well that I had tucked myself in right by the hedge, as I had just set up my easel and paints and started work when a huge tractor turned into the field ready to start the day’s work!
I knew the farmer, however, and he just smiled and waved!
