I feel that I have managed to catch some of the crisp bright colours of the Western Isles in this design ‘cameo’, painted quite quickly in Artists Gouache on a watercolour postcard.
The picture always brings back wonderful memories of camping on Camping on Tiree. The fence here has now been renewed by the crofter, so the sheep don’t wander around the campsite, but to me it’s a kind of heaven to enjoy coffee and toast in the early morning while watching the sun sparkle on the incoming tide! There’s firm, designated standing provided for small campervans, and a small fee is charged which goes to the crofter. There are public facilities together with a disposal point in Scarinish, but that’s it!
For me personally it’s well worth ‘roughing it’ a little in order to enjoy the view!
