On my very first visit to the Hebrides I was lucky enough to be driven through Skye by someone who knew the island well. So much to my delight I saw some lovely spots, a bit ‘off the beatentrack’ . The disadvantage of being provided with convenient transport , however, can be that one has to ‘move on’, all too soon, so here the camera is an invaluable aid. One photo was all I needed to recall this lovely spot and later to try to evoke its unique ‘sense of place’ in luscious gouache.
