June Hedgerow

june-hedgerow

This painting is one of a series of works carried out at Bank Ground Farm, Coniston, Cumbria, the inspiration and location of “Swallows and Amazons”, by Arthur Ransome, and rumour has it that the author actually began writing it when sitting in the farm lounge! Although the lovely hedgerow may well not look the same, and the barn is now converted into more holiday accommodation, permission can be obtained to walk down the field to the boathouses to enjoy the views!

This one was painted on location while sitting behind the boathouses .
